This month, Toronto Life is launching its first-ever wine club—a monthly subscription program to help readers discover fantastic, hard-to-get bottles from the all sorts of Ontario wineries. You’ll find hidden gems, big bold classics and of course, exclusive offerings inside each box of three VQA Ontario wines.
Each wine is tasted and evaluated by their expert sommeliers. They then create seasonally themed three-packs of the wines (the first focuses on Niagara) and send them right to you.

Inside the first ever box, you’ll find a bold and unexpected Cab Franc, a downright luscious sparkling Pinot forward rosé, and a crisp, classic Riesling. These wines represent the cool-climate wine styles that Ontario does best.
- The 2013 Tawse Winery Laundry Cabernet Franc tastes like dark summer berries with loads of plum and cassis. It’s also got a heavy nose of fruit, earth and tobacco to round it out. Tawse prides itself on integrity, not just in winemaking but also in soil stewardship.
- The 2016 Redstone Winery Sparkling Rosé from Beamsville is one of our current obsessions. It’s made in the traditional champagne method from pinot noir. It’s tastes a lot like it looks: juicy ripe strawberry with surprising floral notes and creamy, tiny bubbles.
- The 2015 Stratus Vineyards Kabang Riesling is a classic and exceptional Ontario Riesling. The winery’s 62 acres enjoy a little more sun than most, thanks to their location in Niagara On The Lake. That means the grapes reach full ripeness. This wine tastes like sunshine with notes of apple, citrus, banana and hints of pineapple.
