Visit Science North. That’s a no-brainer! This multi-level museum provides hours of entertainment for the whole family. Learn about our eco-systems, your DNA, Space, or see over 400 types of butterflies up close. There’s also an IMAX theatre and a planetarium on site.
When you get hungry we recommend stopping by The Motley Kitchen – make it for brunch if you can! With a focus on providing sustainable local fare, this bistro serves up the kind of hearty meals you need to keep you going while you explore Sudbury.
Definitely make time to stop and see the Big Nickel & Dynamic Earth. The Big Nickel pays homage to Sudbury’s history as a valuable mining centre. This 30 foot replica of a 1951 Canadian nickel is also free! After you take a photo with the massive 5 cent coin, head over to the Dynamic Earth building – it’s on the same property! This is an interactive museum that will take you through the history of mining in Sudbury.
We mentioned there are a ton of activities to do outdoors right? Onaping Falls cascades over 150 feet and it is worth checking out. Plus there are several hiking trails located nearby, as well as look-out points to stop while hiking the falls.

Visit one (or all) of the galleries in the area. Start with La Galerie du Nouvel Ontario, it was founded in 1995 and has had a large impact on artists as well as the art scene in Sudbury. Next we suggest wandering over to Sudbury’s Outdoor Gallery which features several outdoor murals in and around the downtown core. Finish off your art crawl with something different at Fromagerie Elgin – Sudbury’s best cheese shop that features monthly art shows and live concerts.
