Our Favorite Weekend Getaways, Right Now

Ontario is a big, BIG place. We like to think weve seen it all but we really havent scratched the surface of its treasures. People always ask us where were going next. Let us beat you to the punch this time. Here are a few seasonally specific places we’re headed for the weekend, real soon.

How-to end a day in Grey but start the night at Bruce #FeastOn

Agatha “All About The Orchards” Podgorski

Getaway: Beaver Valley, Grey County

“My go-to weekend road trip lately has me heading for Grey County, particularly the Beaver Valley. I have a little circuit I do starting at Black Bird Pie Company for breakfast and ending with a pizza at Bruce Wine Bar. If time permits, I spend a couple hours at the Scandinave hot pools. Heaven!”

Danielle “Get Me To Guelph” Katz

Getaway: Guelph, Wellington County

“My favourite weekend road trip is to Guelph for the Saturday Farmers’ Market – such amazing farmers and food vendors. The downtown area is always fun to explore! I would definitely include an afternoon walk through Rockwood Conservation Area and if it’s warm, go for a swim or rent a canoe on the Eramosa River. Great way to finish the day is at Miijidaa Bistro + Cafe with some local fare on the awesome back patio!”

Getaway: Prince Edward County, Ontario

“I travel so much with this job that any free minute I have to getaway has me heading for The County. It’s where I grew up, and where my family comes together. Lately, we’ve taken to renting bicycles and exploring on two wheels. We start at Sandbanks Provincial Parks and sometimes end up as far as Parsons Brewing in Picton!”

Nalisha “Kawartha Lakes Lover” Sankreacha

Getaway: Peterborough, Kawartha Lakes

“Peterborough has so many hidden gems. In particular, I love visiting Chasing the Cheese. They have little mystery bags filled with pieces of cheese, I once had a piece of cheese infused with pieces of espresso. Just down the street from Chasing the Cheese is the Publican House Brewery. They once did a collaborative brew with the Canoe Museum (another great spot to visit in Peterborough) to make a William English Ale, it was delicious!”

Landon “I’ll Have a Second Slice Of Pie” Logie

Getaway: Collingwood, Simcoe County

“Right now I cant get enough of spending my weekends in Collingwood! My girlfriends and I spend all day hiking through the scenic caves, and then meet at Azzurra for an Italian family style dinner and their apple and rhubarb crumble- which is to die for and made with local ingredients! If we have time over the rest of the weekend we usually make our way to Thornbury Cidery for an afternoon!”

Trevor “Weekend Warrior” Benson

Getaway: National Capital Region, Ontario

“Heading to Ottawa for long weekends has become a bit of a regular occurrence for me, and stopping in at Burger Revolution in Belleville makes the drive a lot easier. Even better is avoiding the 401 completely and jumping on the Trans-Canada, which allows for a pass through Perth Brewery to stock up on essentials.”
