Fall back in love with Downtown Markham

Situated in the region of York, Markham is a vibrant city that is part of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). There are a multitude of different activities that you can enjoy (safely!) this fall at Destination Markham – and the best way to do it? Book a staycation in Downtown Markham!

Where to stay

The Toronto Marriott Markham offers a new staycation package to fully immerse yourself in Downtown Markham and historic Main Street Unionville: the package includes discounts at over 10 restaurants and shops in Mainstreet Unionville. Designed to incorporate thought provoking art at every turn, the hotel has received many architectural awards in Ontario and has the only indoor elevated infinity pool in York Region. The hotel has also launched new cleaning protocols through their Global Cleanliness Council – so you can feel at ease and enjoy a safe, comfortable stay.

What to eat, see and do

The Toronto Marriott Markham offers a grab and go breakfast, which is great but with so many places to eat at in downtown Markham, you might want to keep breakfast small and make room for lunch, dinner, and LOTS of snacks.
For lunch, head to Good Catch Boil House. Order a seafood boil (we highly recommend the shrimp boil with vermicelli!), and wash it down with one of 18 craft beers on tap from local Ontario Brewers.

Enjoy a leisurely afternoon checking out the art installations and underground art in Downtown Markham with a bubble tea in hand (worthy of some Instagram photos! #VisitMarkham). There are many bubble tea cafes in Downtown Markham and we love them all but if we have to pick one, try Comebuy Bubble Tea’s signature bubble milk tea and experiment with their seasonal flavors.

If you are not quite ready for dinner, pick up some dessert first from Patisserie Fleur. Their French inspired dessert pastries and mini cakes (we love the Sesame Noir and the Orange de Terre) are perfect for a late night snack.

For dinner we’d book a table at the FeastON certified Terre Rouge Toronto. They take inspiration from Canada’s “red earth” to prepare wholesome yet contemporary French-inspired dishes and are committed to using fresh, seasonal ingredients sourced from local producers and farmers.

And to end the day, we suggest taking a relaxing dip in the Toronto Marriott Markham’s heated infinity pool.
