A Day in Brantford: Gardens, Galleries & Goodies

Jump into summer by enjoying fresh air and warm weather exploring Brantford’s outdoor attractions. Brantford has endless opportunities for you to explore the city while still enjoying nature. Take a stroll along the Grand River, hop on one of our many trails that span over 70km or visit our public art pieces scattered around the city.

Start your day off at Glenhyrst Gardens and explore the beautifully landscaped 16-acre park, then head inside to Glenhyrst Art Gallery of Brant and enjoy the exciting contemporary fine art exhibitions, guided tours, classes, workshops and an array of events. While you’re at the gallery, make a reservation at the Golden Teapot for low or high tea.

Next, treat yourself to some frozen goodies at OMG Ice Cream & Frozen Treats. With a slogan of “taking the ordinary and making it extraordinary,” OMG Ice Cream and Frozen Treats does not disappoint. This tiny shop hands out enormous, decadent and definitely Instagram-able delights.

Grab some lunch at Mercasa Little Italy Eatery and Catering and enjoy the convenience of fast food with homemade quality Italian cuisine. This fast casual restaurant prepares everything on the menu from scratch, including their authentic Roman pizzas, using only the finest ingredients. Don’t forget to try their homemade Portuguese Custard Tarts or refreshing gelato to finish off your meal.

Swing by Brantwood Farms and pick your own strawberries and other seasonal fruit and vegetables. Make sure to pop into their farm shop and browse the fresh produce, home baked goods and a variety of locally produced products like jams, jellies and pickles. Stroll through their three acre flower field and enjoy the experience of choosing the perfect flowers to make a beautiful arrangement for your home or for a gift. Enjoy the fresh air, and open space surrounded by flowers and trees.

Visit the Bell Homestead National Historic Site to see where Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone in 1874. See how the Bell family lived and worked and learn about the invention of the telephone through a guided tour of the homestead. Don’t forget to stop in at the gift shop before you head out.
