Over the weekend, Chef Ryan Crawford announced his award-winning farm-to-table restaurant, BACKHOUSE, would be lighting it’s last fire. The celebrated restaurant has been a cornerstone of the Niagara food community for the last 5 years.
But don’t worry! This is not the last you’ve seen of Chef Crawford and his food in Niagara-on-the-lake. For the last month, he and his team have been working on transforming the space into Ruffino’s Pasta & Grille. What was once a popular pasta pop-up has become their full time identity.
They have in no way abandoned their farm-to-table philosophy either! The Backhouse Farm is still in full swing, servicing both the restaurant and their very popular farm stand. The fields are planted with Italian staples destined for plates of pasta and wood-fired pizzas.
The restaurant itself isn’t operating fully yet. However, while social distancing protocals are in place – you can get your first taste. Ruffino’s operates a supermercato from 12pm – 8pm daily, offers a limited delivery menu nightly from 4pm – 8pm and even has a fun, old-school carhop system going from 6pm on weekends.
See you there!
