Woodstock Art Gallery offers a taste of local food and drink at home

The Woodstock Art Gallery is bringing back its annual Taste of Art fundraiser with a stay-at-home twist this year.

The Gallery is holding a virtual event on Sept. 15, 2021, at 6 p.m., to celebrate the launch of five new exhibitions including Visual Elements 63: Annual Juried Exhibition. As part of the festivities, a special Taste of Art in a Box featuring craft beer, Ontario wine and delicious treats from local businesses will be available to order online.

The box is inspired by the Gallery’s art-happening of the same name, which was cancelled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, explains Director/Curator Mary Reid.

“Although we can’t gather in person this year, we wanted a special way to mark the opening of our new Fall 2021 exhibitions and shine a spotlight on the incredible talent of our local artists,” Reid says. “This is also a wonderful opportunity to support the local businesses that are so integral to our community.”

Taste of Art in a Box is sponsored by Investment Planning Counsel, with media sponsorship from Heart FM.

“As long-term sponsors of the Taste of Art event, we are pleased to be a part of this year’s Taste of Art in a Box,” says Scott Lawrence, Certified Financial Planner with Investment Planning Counsel.

“Things may look a little different this year, but what remains important is the role art plays in our community. The support from small businesses and community members has helped the Woodstock Art Gallery to adapt to the challenges of the past year and set its sights on a bright future.”

Each Taste of Art in a Box serves two people and contains two cans of beer from Upper Thames Brewing Company, two cans of Lola sparkling rosé from Pelee Island Winery, two varieties of cheese from Gunn’s Hill Artisan Cheese, two flavours of Picard’s ChipNuts, two chocolate bars from Habitual Chocolate and a package of ground coffee from Early Bird Coffee.

The boxes will be available to order online for an early bird price of $50 beginning Aug. 2, 2021, and at regular price for $55 beginning Aug. 10, 2021, while supplies last. Due to limited quantities, there is a limit of one box per order. Pickup will take place at the Woodstock Art Gallery in September.
