The MICHELIN Guide Toronto 2024: Celebrating Culinary Excellence in Ontario

The MICHELIN Guide recently returned to Toronto for its 2024 edition! Launched in 2022, Toronto became the first Canadian city featured in the MICHELIN Guide, joining the ranks of global dining destinations like New York and Chicago. The 2024 guide broadens its scope beyond the city to celebrate the diverse talents of chefs and restaurants across the greater Toronto area and showcase more of Ontario’s culinary experiences.

About the MICHELIN Guide

Globally recognized as the gold standard for restaurant excellence, the MICHELIN Guide originally began in France in the early 20th century as a way to promote car travel and tire sales. It has since evolved into a trusted source for travellers to discover high-quality restaurant and hotel recommendations.

MICHELIN awards one, two, or three stars to restaurants offering outstanding cooking. One star means that a restaurant is “worth the stop,” two stars indicates that it is “worth the detour,” and three stars means that it is “worth the special journey.”

Wondering what MICHELIN looks for when they visit a restaurant? To fully assess the quality of a restaurant, MICHELIN’s anonymous inspectors evaluate restaurants on five key criteria:

  • Product quality
  • Mastery of cooking techniques
  • Harmony of flavours
  • Chef’s personality
  • Consistency across the menu

This rigorous process ensures that the MICHELIN Guide remains the most respected authority in fine dining.
