The Best Food Trucks: 3 great Ontario food trucks and where to find ’em

Everyone has a favourite food truck. Whether it harkens back to getting the crispiest fries at a food truck at your local gas station as a kid or eating up fried perch lakeside, chances are you’ve had a good run in or two with one of these bad boys over the years.

In Ontario, there are sooo many to choose from and you can try everything from mini perogies and walking tacos to inventive poutine combos and elote corn. Suffice to say, the food truck game has really grown over the past decade (or so).

So…what does our team love? Well, a lot of them frankly but three really stand out:  Casero Taco Bus, Otter Creek Food Truck and Bifana Boys.

Our Round Up of 3 Ontario Food Trucks

Want to know more about them? Check out this listicle of delicious food truck finds.

Casero Taco Bus

Where: Sauble Beach, On.

What happens when you take a 1949 double decker bus from England, pop it onto a popular Ontario beach and serve delicious eats from it? Casero Taco Bus!

A staple in Sauble Beach since 2013, Casero Taco Bus is a must-visit if you’re in the area. Serving up made-from-scratch tacos, you need to try their classic bean and cheese taco amped up with local goods like crispy tortilla strips and micro greens!

More into a hearty taco? Try their double-decker brisket taco which stacks the goodness for twice the impact.

Open for the season in June each year- you definitely don’t want to miss out. Can’t get enough? Be sure to check out their restaurant, Casero Kitchen Table, in Owen Sound!

Otter Creek Food Truck

Where: Kingston, On.

Otter Creek Food Truck is the food truck to check out for a killer burger. Starting with Wagyu beef raised on their own farm, all the ingredients on their menu are made-to-order from scratch and many feature their beef alongside other locally-sourced ingredients like cheese from Wilton Cheese Factory, veggies from Patchwork Gardens and mushrooms from The Fungi Connection.

With new menu items and specials popping up all the time, look out for their chicken borritos, pulled pork sandwich or their 5-spice braised wagyu sammy! You certainly won’t go hungry.

If your stomach is howling at the thought of any of those, be sure to check out Otter Creek Food Truck on Instagram where you’ll find their hours and location for the week.

Bifana Boys

Where: London, On.

Bifana Boys serves up Portuguese Fusion Food that puts a fresh twist on simple classics. Found at different locations in London through out the summer (be sure to check out their Instagram feed) as well as at the Western Fairground Farmers Market, there’s always a way to catch them.

We fall head over heels for their piri piri chicken sandwich that boasts marinated chicken and is brushed with their house made piri piri, topped with pickled red onion, vinaigrette coleslaw, garlic aioli, on a toasted Portuguese bun. Welcome to Flavour Town.

Their most famous sandwich (hence the name) is the bifana which features Canadian raised pork loin topped with caramelized onions, sautéed bell peppers, yellow mustard and house mild aioli on a toasted Portuguese bun. Add a side of angry fries (house made fries with piri piri spice rub, aioli, piri piri ketchup and banana peppers) and you’re good to go.

Of course, Bifana Boys haven’t forgotten about dessert! Check out their homemade Pasteis de Nata (Portuguese custard tarts) to top it all off. YUM!

Get Wheelin’

So there you have it! Three epic food trucks to check out across Ontario this summer. Enjoy it.
