It’s that time of year again – outdoor festival season is upon us. Spring into Spice returns for a second year, hosted on the stunning grounds of the Stanley Barracks Garden @ Hotel X. Festival-goers can treat themselves to delicious eats from cultures all over the world like the Caribbean, Africa, India, Thai, Latin America and so much more.
One of the common tropes in epicurean circles is that Caribbean cuisine does not pair with wine so much as it does with rum and beer. These preconceived notions (what foods pair well and who should drink wine) make wine that much less approachable to first-generation diaspora dwellers (Caribbean, Latin, African, and East Indian).
“As we celebrate our beautiful country, this year’s festival boasts an even larger and more diverse range of cuisines,” said Beverly Crandon, creator of Spring into Spice. “We’re also shining a spotlight on unique winemakers, both from world-renowned regions and from our own backyard. Among them are powerhouse female winemakers, brilliant young winemakers, and BIPOC wine producing savants.”
Spring into Spice event attendees will leave having gone through a gamut of epicurean experience and hopefully take that knowledge to their own table for food and wine combinations.
For those interested in digging deeper into food and wine pairings, people can take advantage of the immersive seminars scheduled throughout the day.
