Long ago, Prince Edward County was known as the Garden Capital of Canada, providing more than 1/3 of this Nation’s canned food. Recently, it was coined the Gastronomic Capital of Ontario by the Globe and Mail – proof that ‘The County’s’ longstanding commitment to local food has paid off. Cycle or drive bucolic back roads through the award winning, self-guided Taste Trail route linking restaurants, artisanal food producers, and wine and spirit purveyors. Sign up for a cooking class to learn the tools of the trade, or delight in award winning wine from Canada’s newest designated viticultural area.  Tour the Arts Trail and experience the diverse mix of arts and culture that thrives here – tour studios, galleries, and attend workshops to hone your craft. Home to one of Canada’s best beaches, Sandbanks Provincial Park, Prince Edward County invites you to explore, indulge and savour the experience of this majestic island. Shop our farm markets or pick your own! Select award-winning cheeses from local cheesemakers, and visit the tasting rooms of the 40+ local wineries.  Join us at the agricultural fairs, Maple in the CountyTASTE Community Grown, The Great Canadian Cheese Festival and Pumpkinfest. Visit Prince Edward County and experience first-hand the epicurean renaissance happening here.

No visit is complete without popping into the County Cider Company. Grab a bite on their patio and a pint of the Waupoos Draft Cider while looking over Lake Ontario.

If you’re in a shopping mood, head to Books & Company, where they combine new and used books in an awesome space attached to a Miss Lily’s café making you want to browse for hours.

When in The County, you’ve got to visit at least three wineries. Our picks? Make a quick stop to The Old Third Winery for Pinot, Closson Chase for some Chardonnay, then stop for bubbles (and oysters when they have them in season!) at Hinterland Winery.
