In 2021 alone, we garnered 23 gold medals, reflecting our commitment to excellence. Pioneers in sustainability, we produced the world’s first certified vegan wine, integrating vegan practices across our vineyard and experiences, significantly reducing our carbon footprint. Recognized globally, Karlo Estates has featured on prestigious lists, including the “Top Ten Cutting Edge Wines of the World,” WineAlign’s “Best of the Best of Ontario,” VineRoute’s “Top 20 Wineries of Ontario,” and their “Top Ten Wines of Ontario.”
Our wines, crafted in the Old World style, embrace both single varietals and classic blends, emphasizing natural winemaking with minimal intervention. Hand-harvested grapes, extensive natural fermentation, and long, cold maceration highlight the complexity of our Hillier limestone clay loam terroir. This artisanal approach, while labor-intensive, ensures wines of depth and character, perfectly balanced and food-friendly. The unique terroir of Prince Edward County, enriched by ancient limestone soil and a cooler climate influenced by Lake Ontario, allows our grapes to mature fully, laying the foundation for exceptional wines with distinctive character and vibrancy.
