Raisins or no raisins? How about nuts?
No matter what camp you fall into, you can be sure to get your fill of butter tarts at The Valley’s Best Butter Tart Contest and Festival.
The Town of Renfrew, Renfrew County and the entire Ottawa Valley, have a long and rich history of great bakers. To showcase their talents, the Renfrew Agricultural Society is hosting Ottawa Valley’s first ever Butter Tart Festival on Nov 7 at the Renfrew Armouries – and all butter tart enthusiasts are invited!
The event will bring together bakers of all skill levels to showcase their own special butter tart recipes and compete against other bakers in many flavour categories. A panel of judges will be blind tasting to select the winners. You’ll have the chance to sample butter tarts of all shapes, sizes, and flavours (including sugar-free and keto ones!), meet the bakers and stock up on baked goodies for holiday entertaining.
Sponsored by the Flamingo Restaurant with support from the Town of Renfrew, County of Renfrew and the Ottawa Valley Tourist Association, the event will take place on Sunday Nov 7, 2021, from 10am – 4pm at the Renfrew Armouries, Renfrew Fairgrounds, 115 Veterans Boulevard, Renfrew, ON. Admission is free.
Individuals and bakers interested in entering the contest and showing off their butter tart baking expertise, can request a vendor package and application by contacting Tracy Keller at 2fattarts@gmail.com or 343-544-7928.
Mark your calendar and get ready to sink your teeth into Ottawa Valley’s best butter tarts!
