All-New Niagara Spring Sparkles Wine Festival Offers Special Wine Country Touring Packages for GO Train Guests This March
Niagara Wine Festival is pairing up with Niagara wineries, Niagara Wine Country’s hottest restaurants and Metrolinx to create a new take on fizz and fun during the last two weekends of March with the all-new Niagara Spring Sparkles Wine Festival.
A combination of winery tastings and restaurant events, the Niagara Spring Sparkles Festival will offer guests the opportunity to shake off the winter blahs while celebrating Niagara’s world-class sparkling wines.
Getting to Niagara for a day of wine touring will be easier than ever for out-of-town guests thanks to a new partnership between Niagara Wine Festival and Metrolinx. On March 21, 22, 28 and 29, a Niagara-bound GO Train will depart Toronto’s Union Station at 9 a.m. Guests can choose to hop off at the train station in either St. Catharines for a day of touring in Twenty Valley or Niagara Falls for a day of touring in Niagara-on-the-Lake. From the GO Train, guests will transfer to a comfortable limo shuttle with a dedicated wine country guide who will serve as their host for the day as they travel to different wineries to enjoy wine and food pairings. Before departing back to Toronto, Twenty Valley touring guests will have to time to relax at Parkway Social and Niagara-on-the-Lake touring guests will have time to shop for designer deals at Outlet Collection at Niagara. Priced at just $89.99 (plus HST), the GO Train Discovery Pass tickets include return fare from any GO Transit station, transportation to all the wineries and transfer back to the train station at the end of the day and Discovery Pass food and wine pairings at four wineries.
Guests who don’t opt for the GO Train Discovery Pass can purchase a Niagara Spring Sparkles Discovery Pass program and create their own itinerary of creative wine and food pairings from their choice of 35 different Niagara wineries. The $45 Spring Sparkles Discovery Pass entitles guests to tastings at eight different wineries. The diverse range of pairing options include a crispy phyllo tart filled with triple cream brie, black truffle honey and hazelnut paired with Sparkling Riesling at Thirty Bench, a bubbly High Tea at Sue-Ann Staff Estate Winery and Henry of Pelham’s Cuvée Catharine Rosé Brut paired with a vegan raspberry cheesecake donut.
Niagara restaurant partners are also jumping on the bubble band wagon with a variety of special events, themed menus and dining offers on the two weekends of the Niagara Spring Sparkles Wine Festival. Award-winning restaurant, Backhouse, will feature a super-sized sparkling wine tasting bar paired with bubble-friendly bites and music served up by one of Niagara’s hottest DJs. Other restaurant events in the works range from casual game nights with bubbles and snacks to carefully curated Winemaker dinners.
