Culinary Tourism Alliance wins FoodTrekkers: Destination Award

We’ve got some good food news to share! Last week, The World Food Travel Association held the second annual FoodTrekking Awards in Portland, USA and the Culinary Tourism Alliance took home some serious hardware. The awards recognize excellence in culinary tourism. As you can imagine, that’s kind of a big deal for us.

All of the applicants are businesses who dedicate themselves to offering unique culinary experiences. Winners are divided this year into eight categories. We are very excited to announce that The Culinary Tourism Alliance received the FoodTrekking Award for ?Best Food/Beverage Destination Experience.?

It is heartwarming to get international recognition as one the best destinations for exceptional food and drink experiences. Culinary tourism is the fastest-growing sector of travel, and Ontario is on top of the game.

“Ontario is such a beautiful, diverse and delicious place. Receiving this recognition is exciting not just for us at the CTA, but for the whole province! We’ve been an authority in food tourism development for a decade, leading by example in Ontario. An award like this supports not just our work here at home, but the work we do for communities around the world!” said Community Manager, Agatha Podgorski.

Ontario was awarded the prize based on our extensive network of edible trails, our exploding beer scene, our world-class winery experiences and Feast On, a program unique to this province that celebrates the people and places truly committed to supporting Ontario farmers & producers.

Big congratulations to the runner up in the Destination Category, our neighbours to the west, Experience Grand Rapids, Michigan. Last year’s winner was Louisville Convention & Visitors Bureau with Visit Helsinki as runner up.
