Marilynne is a community-focused, farm-inspired restaurant in Markdale, led by Chef Brandon Bannon, who was born in Markdale and raised in Melancthon.

Located at 19 Toronto St. North, the restaurant is named after Brandon’s grandmother, Marilynne. In the late 1960s, Marilynne and her husband Bob relocated their family from Toronto to Dundalk, embracing a simpler life rooted in the land. Their approach to food was straightforward yet profound— fresh, nourishing, lovingly prepared, and deeply connected to the farm. Each meal reflected an intrinsic understanding of the relationships between the animals in the barnyard, the weather, the garden’s harvest, the food on the table, and the people gathered to enjoy it. This ethos wasn’t New Age-y, it was obvious. Marilynne offers an exceptional dining experience that celebrates simplicity, freshness, and the interconnectedness of the farm-to-table journey.
