Maple Leaf Tavern announces new Executive Chef

Something’s been cooking #atthetavern, and it’s being revealed just in time for the holiday dining season.

Chef Stephane Renaux has been appointed as the new Executive Chef of the Maple Leaf Tavern.

Bringing an elevated flare to locally sourced ingredients that evolve with the season, Renaux’s take on comfort classics and introduction to French fusion is what has kept our menu strong, vibrant and delicious whether Indulged at the tavern or at home. Born in France and inspired by it’s culinary scene, Renaux began his career by working with the country’s finest at Georges Blanc Parc & Spa and Hôtel Plaza Athénée, before his acquired French fare was desired by the Caribbean, bringing him to Eden Rock St Barths, and the Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora.

We can’t wait to try the new menu and see what personal flare Chef Renaux brings to this East End institution. Welcome to the #FeastOn family chef!

About Maple Leaf Tavern

Originally built in 1910, the building that houses MLT was converted to the Hotel Maple Leaf in 1935. Operated as a hotel, bar and dining room for travelers and local residents under two owners until 1975. Through the 1980’s,1990’s and 2000’s the Maple Leaf Tavern garnered notoriety as a down and out drinking hall. The vacant space was converted into it’s current state in Spring 2016.

The team at Maple Leaf Tavern aim to recreate the look and feel of a true community Tavern. They focus their efforts on working with the best people and the best suppliers Toronto has to offer.
