Clear your schedules on Sunday, September 17, 2017, because the Toronto Garlic Festival is coming to town!
In celebration of Ontario’s garlic harvest this annual event offers something for everyone; in addition to demonstrations by farmers, gardeners, chefs, cicerones, scientists and health experts, there will also be workshops and speakers all throughout the day, live entertainment, and contests.
There are over 20 farmers attending this year’s festival and they will be selling everything from butter with gourmet garlic, farm fresh veggies, maple syrup butter – and of course garlic bulbs.
All chefs will be cooking using local ingredients, including of course, tons of local garlic. Here’s a taste of some of the chefs you can expect to see, and the delicious creations they’re serving up!
Chef Ben Ekuban will feature four cheese mac & cheese with garlic Cajun corn, breakfast garlic potatoes, BBQ roasted and pulled pork & egg and chicken & waffles.

Jamie serves his famous Fries with Garlic Aioli and Toasted Garlic Chips. Bonus: Jamie Kennedy Kitchens is Feast On certified!
Just a Cup Coffee
They might take the (garlic infused) cake with their creations! You will find caramelized garlic butter tarts, nutty garlic cookies, cedar garlic shortbread, coffee with garlic flavour, garlic apple jelly, roasted onion-garlic marmalade, garlic powder, garlic scape pesto, garlic braids and fruit roll-ups (garlic-apple and garlic-raspberry).

Chef Ben Sachse is keeping his recipes a secret, but take it from us, whatever he is serving up will be very tasty.
While you’re taking a break from stuffing your face with garlic, indulge in some of the other activities the festival has to offer!

Take a 360-degree virtual reality tour of garlic grower Simon De Boer�s farm, Langside Farms!
There will be several shows for your viewing pleasure, including: Festival Theatre: Dance Me Outside, Festival Theatre: Freedom Family � Don Francks & Family Documentary, and Festival Theatre: Symphony of the Soil.
Garlic Breath Contest
Vampires beware! The garlic breath contest is exactly what it sounds like; participants will compete for who has the most garlic-y breath! Festival officials use a gas chromatograph to measure crucial garlic elements � Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S), Methanethiol, and Dimethyl Sulphide. Bring your smelliest A-game, as there are prizes to be won!
In addition to the the festival theatre, there are also musical acts preforming throughout the afternoon, including: A Klezmer Shmorgasbord,Dj Bliss, Glen HornBlast, Lucio Reggiunti, Paula Wolfson & Chris Dunn, Spirit Wind and many others!

When you get thirsty after all that garlic, you will find Brimstone Brewing, Creemore Springs, and Dixon’s Distilled Spirits waiting with open arms and cold beverages.
