Travel the Wellington-North Buttertart Trail

Who doesn’t like a rich, decadently sinful butter tart? On The Buttertart Trail — a self-guided road tour across Wellington County–there are at least a dozen varieties you’ll come across, plus other inventions!

Since 2006, the trails of Wellington North have lead to butter tarts with tastes for everyone! The Butter Tart Trail provides you and your family the opportunity to experience the rural countryside and enjoy sweet tastes along the way.. whether your preference be nuts, no-nuts or raisins. The Township of Wellington North in partnership with their business community have once again come together to celebrate Ontario’s quintessential dessert by showcasing a trail of 16 stops within the municipality, featuring traditional butter tarts, experimenting with new flavours and exploring other inventions like doggy butter tart treats, pottery trays and mugs in homage to the butter tart and scents inspired by them. You may even chance upon a butter tart sundae, trifle, pie and ice cream! Download a copy of your Butter Tart Trail map today! Join The Butter Tart Trail Friday, June 6th for Ontario Tourism Week at Yonge Dundas Square, Toronto, when we assemble and celebrate Ontario’s favourite ooey-gooey pastry with OCTA (hey, that’s us!), the Kawarthas-Northumberland Butter Tart Tour and Tartistry, Toronto’s first and only all-buttertart bakery. Also, don’t miss The Butter Tart Trail at Ontario’s Best Butter Tart Festival in Midland, June 14th, when amateur and professional bakers alike flock to Midland to see if they can emerge victorious, and have their butter tarts declared the best in Ontario.

How sweet it that!
