There are a few reasons we love autumn: harvest season (apple pie, pumpkin pie, okay really just all the pie), an excuse for a new wardrobe, plus a whole lot of fun charity events! With so many worthy events to support this fall, we thought we would highlight one you might not have heard of before: The Food Court Social. Three Reasons to Attend The Food Court Social on September 22nd: Ten Top Toronto Chefs in One Room! Chefs Mark McEwan, Michael Stadtlander, Anthony Rose, John Higgins, and Donna Dooher are just a few of the top chefs who will be serving up tasty dishes at the event – see the full list here. Steam Whistle Brewery and Tawse Winery will also be quenching your thirst with throughout the night.
Feed your Appetite for Change
Did you know that unemployment rates are as high as 70-90% for people with severe mental illness?
That’s why, in partnership with the Centre for Addictions and Mental Health (CAMH), George Brown College designed the Augmented Education program. This one-of-a-kind program works to empower students living with mental health and addictions issues with the tools they need to train for, find and maintain employment in the culinary and construction industries.
The program is offered free-of-charge to students. Tuition and incidental fees are covered to make sure the program remains accessible and students can focus on what matters most – their education. Which is why the Food Court Social exists – all net proceeds from the event support the program, giving you a chance to give back while enjoying an evening out!
Exciting Auction Items!
This year’s auction will prove to be our best yet! A few of the items up on the auction block: 2 Business Class Tickets from Air Canada, a private cooking class for four people from our participating chef, Brian Cheng of The Edible Story, brunch for six at the Drake 150, a private tasting event for seven at The Cactus Club, and hotel stays at The Westin and Starwood properties – complete with breakfast in bed, of course!
With your support, we are breaking down the barriers around mental health and addiction, one bite at a time. You won’t be hungry at our event but craving to make a difference in the lives of others. You can purchase a ticket here or donate to the cause here.
