Whether they’re warm or cold, we’re really digging Ontario ciders this season. Makers are expanding out of their comfort zones and creating some really unique brews — brews that pair perfectly with holiday food.
Here are some of the ciders we’re searching out this season:
Complex, sweet and chalk full of Christmas spice. This sipper sums up everything we love about the holidays in a glass. Find it: Small Talk Vineyards, 1242 Irvine Rd, Niagara on the Lake

Spirit Tree Cidery
This dark gold, caramel-orange flavoured heritage cider will warm your soul on a cold winter’s day. It’s got the classic notes of a New England style cider, with loads of dried fruit on the nose and palate.
Find it: Spirit Tree Cidery, 1137 Boston Mills Rd, Caledon
BONUS: Stop for a bite while you’re there! Spirit Tree Cidery has a Feast On Certified bistro on site serving up stellar wood-fired pizzas, fresh baked bread and loads of other cider-friendly snacks.
Coffin Ridge Winery
The super intense, wine-like hue on this gives little away to it’s flavour. Tart, but balanced, and brimming with herbaceous notes to balance everything out.
Find it: Coffin Ridge Winery, 599448 2nd Concession North
West Avenue Cider
This is the first of 2 Ice Ciders released by the team West Avenue. It’s made with single variety Northern Spy apple and we’re told has notes of candy apple, vanilla, marshmallow on the nose and hints at dark chocolate, grand marnier, and caramelized orange on the tongue. Wowzers!
Find it at: Stay tuned! We hear it’s coming to Her Father’s Cider Bar in Toronto soon.
Thornbury Beverage Company
This beautiful, newly minted cider took home GOLD in the People’s Choice category at the Ontario Cider Awards this year… and we can see why!
Find it: At your local LCBO or at the newly open cidery!
