Tastea�?Real Wins Economic Development Association Of Canada Award

The team at Taste ? Real has been honoured with the Brand Identity award by the Economic Developers Association of Canada (EDAC).


A�Since its inception in 2009, the local food initiative has continued to build on its brand to support local businesses, farms and producers in Wellington County.

?We are really excited to be receiving this award,? said George Bridge, County of Wellington Economic Development Chair. ?It is wonderful to be recognizing Wellington�s strong agri-food sector through the collaborative effort that has gone into building this brand.?

Along with this prestigious award, Taste ? Real received the 2012 Economic Development Council of Ontario (EDCO) Product Development Award as well as the Ontario Culinary Tourism 2012 Leadership Award.

?The success of Taste ? Real lies in the partnerships that have been created within our region. Our mission is to support local small businesses and farms to build stronger rural communities and grow one of the most vibrant, local food economies and food tourism destinations in Ontario,? says Christina Mann, Taste ? Real Coordinator.

Finding locally grown food in Guelph and Wellington County is becoming easier every day — largely in part to the hard work of the team at TasteA�?A�Real. A�

Taste ? Real is administered by the County of Wellington and has developed strong ties with eight municipal strategic partners including The City of Guelph, Elora-Fergus Tourism, Township of Guelph Eramosa, Town of Erin, Township of Mapleton, Town of Minto and the Township of Wellington North.

It is also supported by institutional partners like University of Guelph, The Food School and the Guelph Community Health Centre; as well as six regional farmers� markets. The highly successful events in the region including Source it Here!, the Wellington Rural Romp, Local Food Fest, the recently held Field Dinner and more, have shown the benefit of moving Taste ? Real to the next level.

To date, over 120 businesses and stakeholders are partners of this program and actively use the brand to promote their products and services. Thanks to these partnerships and an effective marketing and advertising campaign, the Taste ? Real brand and logo are synonymous with quality local food.
