Stung at the Fairmont Royal York

It’s a rare occasion when one is stung and can actually say “Wow – amazing!”. Those words were straight out of my mouth after the first sip of the Fairmont Royal York’s Royal Stinger Honey Beer. The beer is the result of a unique partnership between the Fairmont and Mill Street Brewery. Mill Street Brewery Territory Manager, Jason Mercieca noted that this is the only partnership of this kind that the brewery participates in. They make the honey beer exclusively for the Fairmont using the honey harvested from the hotels roof top hives. Head Beekkeeper for the Toronto Beekeepers Cooperative, Mylee Nordin noted that they had a record harvest on September 14th. Over 600 lbs came out of the 6 hives located on the roof of hotel! The hotel keeps the honey onsite in various forms for their guests to enjoy – the Royal Stinger Honey Beer being one of them. You can find the beer on tap at their onsite dining establishments: Piper’s, the Library Bar and Epic Restaurant.
Next time you’re visiting Toronto or just out and about in the hood, be sure to stop by for a pint of this delicious Ontario Craft Beer!
