Want more?A 2013 has new additions including charcuterie made with pork from whey-fed pigs alongside a craft brew, bacon sea salts, bacon toffee and a house-cured bacon BLT slicked with beer mustard. These are sure to become go-to favourites.

“Both craft beer and bacon are not only popular food trends, but align with Stratford’s reputation for raising pork, hosting the Ontario Pork Congress in its 40th year, and a brewing history that dates back to the 1870s. Stratford is the perfect location for a trail dedicated to these two flavours.” says Cathy Rehberg, marketing manager for Stratford Tourism Alliance.

Each trail pass includes five tickets to be exchanged at your choice of the thirteen participating stops and can be redeemed for bacon and ale inspired treats along with the opportunity to learn more about regional products from Stratford’s culinary stars.

Participating stops include: Best Little Pork Shoppe, Bradshaws + Kitchen Detail, Canadian Grub to Go, Foster’s Inn, Kitchen Connaisseur, Mercer Hall, Molly Bloom’s Irish Pub, Monforte on Wellington, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, Small-Mart General Mercantile, Treasures, Turnbull & Stewart and Your Local Market Coop. Several stops also offer ‘savoury steals’ to those embarking on the Bacon and Ale Trail.
