The Savour Stratford Perth County Culinary Festival is just around the corner but here at the OCTA office, we just can’t wait! We’re big fans of the festival and recently got the chance to get a sneak preview of this year’s incredible edible attractions.

The Taste of Ontario Artisan Alley
Saturday Sept. 21st fromA�11am – 5pm
All Ontario all the time? This afternoon is right up our alley! Sample new VQA wines, craft cask beers, Ontario cheeses and lift your spirits with a cocktails from Dillon’s Small Batch Distillers.
Toronto Star Culinary Stage
Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 21, 22
Playing off the festival theme “Globally inspired, locally grown”, the culinary stage will shine a spotlight on authentic dishes from around the world, prepared by regional and celebrity chefs (including Vikram Vij!) and using locally sourced world crops. Women in Food Breakfast
Sunday, Sept. 22nd at 9am
Start the morning off with an engaging discussion with some of the culinary industry’s most wonderful women – chef and activist Joshna Maharaj, author Naomi Duguid, Revel Caffe owner Anne Campion, Brazilian chef Mara Salles and Chatelaine’s food editor, Claire Tansey. Moderated by Alison Fryer, owner of The Cookbook Store, this event is great way to kick-off Savour Sunday!
Savour Stratford Sunday Tasting

The highlight of the festival is taking place in Market Square this year. A�Look for thirty of the region’s best local chefs to dish it out in hopes of taking home one of the coveted Tasting Awards. Great Global Grains

Flour power! Chatelaine food editor Claire Tansey’s got grains on the brain – she’s sharing tips for working with a wide range of Ontario-grown whole grains and globally inspired recipes from the Chatelaine test kitchen.
From Grain to Glass – The Art of Whisky
Saturday, Sept. 21st at 4:30pm
Davin de Kergommeaux gets into some whisky business at this tasting event. He’ll also discuss the differences between craft and factory production and sample some of the finest whiskies in the nation. A�Bonus – a take home gift is included!
Mozzarella – Italian Tradition, Stratford Style
Sunday, Sept. 22nd at 10:30am
Learn how to make mozzarella, the old fashioned whey! Yva Santini from Pazzo Taverna will take tasters through a demonstration (with samples!) and discuss the many types and preparations of this iconic Italian cheese.

The revival of classic cocktails is nothing to be bitter about! Or is it…? Let Peter and Geoff Dillon, owners of Dillon’s Distillers and 2013 Ontario Culinary Tourism Summit guest speakers, make a convincing case for their bitters which feature Ontario sourced ingredients. We love using their pear and cranberry creations in our cocktails – wanna bet you will too?
As with every year, there will be plenty of local pride, producers and purveyors on display as well. Participating Savour Stratford partners include: Bijou Restaurant, Madelyn’s Diner (world famous butter tarts await!), Monforte on Wellington, The County Food Co., The Prune, and many more!
