Put Some Pie In Your Pint

Any and all beer lovers know autumn is the season for pumpkin beers. From a fresh and spicy weiss to a heady ale, no brew hearkens on the cold weather better!

Ontario Pumpkins

We’ve put together list of our favorites — most are limited editions and available at the breweries. Get ‘em while you can hop heads. They won’t last long!

It’s The Great Pumpkin Ale
Church Key Brewing
Back by popular demand, this 7% beer was brewed with 350kg of locally sourced pumpkin that was put directly into the mash. The decision to smoke half of the pumpkin and roast the other half contributes to this beer’s delicate sweetness that is rounded with the dryness of high quality spices commonly used in your grandma’s pumpkin pie. Get it while it lasts!

Great Lakes Pumpkin Ale
Great Lakes Brewing
Handcrafted with an assortment of specialty malts and hops, we added a generous amount of pumpkin directly into the brew. Combine this with hints of cinnamon, clove, nutmeg and allspice, and you’ve got a beer that you won’t soon forget. Rich, satisfying and slightly spicy, our seasonal ale goes perfectly with your favourite dessert or traditional feast. But like fall, Pumpkin Ale comes but once a year!

Highballer Pumpkin Ale
Grand River Brewing
Pumpkins for the Highballer Pumpkin Ale are all grown by our owner Bob Hannenberg in his Garden, and you can’t get more local than that!

Weiss O’Lantern
Beau’s All Natural Brewing Company
The white beer is orange-hued with a tall creamy head, the pumpkin, citrus fruit, and spice flavours shine through a full wheat body. The finish is lively, zippy, and darn refreshing! The experience is of fresh pumpkin flesh with ginger & lemongrass notes, as well as inflections of cinnamon and nutmeg. Also notice hints of banana and clove, and a satisfying graham cracker finish.

Nightmare on Mill Street Pumpkin Ale
Mill Street Brewery
Brewed with real pumpkin in the mash along with a number of spices to make a sunset-coloured wheat beer that is perfect for the fall. The spicy scent, hazy copper colour and strong notes of cinnamon and allspice pair perfectly with the sweet front and mild bitter finish. No complaints here!
