Our Top Spots For The Serious Strawberry Picker

With Ontario strawberry season looming, we’ve compiled a list of the top spots to pick your own basket of berries!

Be sure to check these farms out in June and July for berries and review this calendar for the best of Ontario in the coming months.

Whittamore’s Farms, Markham

Whittamore’s Farm is a 220 acre fruit and vegetable farm nestled beside the Rouge River Valley. The Farm Shop is one of the largest in Ontario, so there’s loads of options if you’re not feeling the pick-your-own thing.

Reesor’s Farm, Markham

From mid-June to early July, you can enjoy the unparalleled taste of juicy, ripe Ontario strawberries, fresh from their field or you can buy them ready-picked at their Farm Market. Save room for some of their fresh baked bread, you won’t regret it.

McLean and Buckhorn Berry Farm, Lakefield

Not only do these guys offer strawberries, but in season you can also pick-your-own peas, currants, beans and of course, pumpkins!

Downey’s Farm Market, Caledon

Downey’s has been a tradition for decades — and now that there’s a winery and kritter koral on site, we’re ready to just move on it.

Linton’s Farm Market, Oshawa

Over 50 years ago the Lintons’ started growing tomatoes for a canning company and gradually added more and more vegetables and fruit and a farm market stand. They now offer pick-your-strawberries to boot!

We used to go to Andrew’s Scenic Acres in Milton when I was growing up. Alas, it’s been sold and no longer does PYO. They had this frozen yogurt machine that and warm waffle cones… it was a dream!
