Grey County – known for great skiing, hiking, cycling and paddling – is also an emerging food and drink destination. Built on sweet limestone soils and clean water, local farms excel in raising lamb, apples, trout, beef and more. All are used in restaurants across the region as Grey County chefs embrace the farm-to-table ethos. They know that fresh foods taste best and that buying direct from neighbouring farms deepens community bonds and economic resilience. Enjoy Feast ON designated restaurants and hand-picked local favourites when you visit.
Agriculture and food are at the very heart of life in Grey County. Looking for authentic farm-to-table experiences? Many of Grey County’s unique restaurants serve seasonal local food with imagination and pride. Eating comes in all shapes and sizes — from markets stalls to fine dining. There are food trucks and pop-ups happening almost weekly too! All offering made-from-scratch prepared food for you to enjoy.
Grey County is quickly becoming known as one of Ontario’s prime destinations for lovers of wine, craft beer and cider. The area was once a hotbed for bootleggers during Prohibition. Today it boasts imaginative producers who use local hops, apples and grapes to create award-winning products. With two wineries, three craft brewers and three cideries offering tastings, and an organic hop farm offering on-farm special events, there are lots of reasons to raise a glass to (or in) Grey.
Recently the region has partnered with 17 businesses, 3 museums, Simcoe County and a bunch of other partners to create the Saints & Sinners: Bootleggers’ Run Trail.

Driving through Beaver Valley is pretty breath taking. Catch your breath at Beaver Valley Cidery over a sipper of ginger cider and a taste of their homemade pate.
While in the region, be sure to get a taste of Meredith’s Ginger Syrup! We love it in the tart cherry slushies at the Ravenna General Store or paired with lavender soda at The Cheese Gallery in Thornbury.
Be sure to make time for a taco or two at Casero’s Taco Bus near Owen Sound. Save room for a cucumber and jalapeno margarita (or two!). Can’t make the trek to the bus? Check out their sister restaurant, Casero’s Kitchen Table.
