West Avenue Cider is a small batch cidery that uses only %100 Ontario-grown heritage apples varieties. Founded by British-born cider maker Chris Haworth and his wife Amy Robson. Haworths cultural roots have inspired West Avenues year-round staple ?Heritage Dry” — which won Best Cider in Ontario in 2014. He is a former chef and uses the skills and palatte he gained in kitchens to craft limited release barrel-aged, cask-conditioned and one-off, experimental ciders.

?Once again Ontario Craft Cider members have shown what Ontario apples and precision craftsmanship can do on an international stage.  Our cider makers are quickly establishing Ontario as one of the best regions in the world to make great cider,? said Thomas Wilson, Chair, OCCA.  ?In a few weeks, Ontario cider drinkers will have a chance to taste some of these award-winning ciders when Ontario Cider Week comes to a bar near them.?

You can try some of these ciders during next month’s Ontario Craft Cider Week. Between may 27th and June 4th, restaurants, ciders and events will be popping with cool, one-off events across the province.

The flagship event, entitled Apple Seed Cider Fest, is scheduled for May 29th at Artscape Wychwood Barns. You can taste your way through ciders from Beaver Valley Orchard & Cidery, Coffin Ridge Boutique Winery, County Cider, Ironwood Hard Cider, KW Craft Cider, Pommies, Revel Cider Co., Shiny Apple Cider, Spirit Tree Estate Cidery, Thornbury Cider, Ernest Cider and of course, this year’s big GLINTCAP winner, West Avenue Cider Company.
