In celebration of International Women’s Day 2018 and as part of its commitment to women working in craft brewing, OCB will award education bursaries for women in OCB member breweries interested in taking courses from the Prud’homme Beer CertificationA� program.
“OCB is pleased to honour the contribution of women to Ontario’s craft brewing industry,” says Scott Simmons, President, Ontario Craft Brewers. “More women are choosing to work in this industry in all areas of the business including management administration, brewing, production, sales and retail. Through these bursaries, OCB supports the education and knowledge of women working in our member breweries.”
Thirst For Knowledge Inc.A�, launched Prud’homme, Canada’s first beer certification program in 2009. This multi-level beer education series of courses (both online and in class) is designed specifically for those who want to quench their thirst for more information within the world of beer. The course content and curriculum are driven by input from industry insiders and former participants. The ultimate goal is to provide the best-in-class beer experiences to students.
In partnership with Thirst for KnowledgeA� Inc., the OCB Prud’homme bursary will cover course registration fees for award recipients, including:
- 1 @ full program including Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 (Prud’homme Beer Sommelier): value $2250
- 1 @ Level 1 and Level 2 (Beer Specialist): value $1050
- 3 @ Level 1 classes (Beer Enthusiast): value $350 x 3
Total bursary package is valued at $4350.

Eligible applicants must be female, 19+ years and have been working with an OCB member brewery for a minimum of one year.
Interested applicants should fill out the following QUESTIONNAIRE by March 31, 2018. Successful applicants will be chosen by lottery in April and must register for the program by June 1, 2018.
Prud’homme Beer CertificationA� is the only beer education program that provides a well-structured, unbiased look at the world of beer. It covers an in-depth look from the history, styles and taste profiles of beer as well as cooking with beer and food pairings. Founded by Roger Mittag, The Beer Professor, Thirst for KnowledgeA�Inc., also offers consulting and services such as beer education, beer portfolio consulting, brewery sales and marketing consulting, sales training, bartender and server training, draught system consulting, glassware design consulting, beer & food pairing, beer dinners/tastings design and facilitation.
