It should come as no surprise that here at OCTA, we’re huge fans of farmers’ markets, which is why we’re thrilled to see a new one opening up this summer in Wellington North!
There are so many reasons to buy local: farmer’s markets allow customers to have access to the freshest (and most flavourful!) food, they support our local farmers and economy, and they give customers direct access to information about how their food has been grown or raised.
The new market will run Fridays, May 9October 10, 3pm8pm, on King Street East in Mount Forest, at the Victory Community Centre. This Friday, on the market’s inaugural opening, there will be lots of festivities, which will include local Mayor Raymond Tout appearing at 3pm to officially open the market.
?A Farmers Market is a good opportunity for the community to connect. It allows us to buy from and support our local farmers and producers, thus contributing to our local economy,? said Tourism, Marketing and Promotions Manager for the Township of Wellington North, April Marshall. ?We are pleased to give our residents and visitors the opportunity to experience agriculture close up by hearing the story of where their food came from, straight from the person that grew and prepared it,? Marshall added.
The Wellington North Farmers Market has been put together by the collaboration and support of participating vendors, the Township of Wellington North, Mount Forest Victory Church, Mount Forest Chamber of Commerce, Arthur Chamber of Commerce, MARCC Apparel, Print One and Taste Real.
