Meet The Taste Makers: Terri Mathews-Carl

pears2-300x300We’re counting down the sleeps to the 2015 Ontario Culinary Tourism Summit happening on November 9th! This years summit is all about those Perfect Pairings — whether it’s local food and wine or sports tourism and craft beer. It will take place in Toronto at The Westin Prince. We’ve put together a line-up of culinary tourism major leaguers who will give us the low-down on their experiences and best practices. In the weeks leading up to the summit we’ll be profiling these taste makers showing you exactly why you should save the date. So on that note, meet the first of our 2015 culinary tourism taste makers!

Terri_Boshkung  Terri Mathews-Carl is changing the game in Haliburton with the Feast ON certified restaurant, Rhubarb, that she runs with her husband.  From the food, to the wine, and to the beer brewed at their on-site brewery Boshkung Brewing Co., Terry understands what fresh and local mean to the customer and to the community at large.  As the only Feast ON certified restaurant in the county Terry has shown a deep commitment to the local movement in a community where they stand out for doing so.  This is why Terry chose the taste of place that she did. While she moved out of her community to Quebec City, Terry did this because of the sheer amount of offerings and farm to table fare “there are almost too many choices”.
