It doesn’t get any more farm to table than this yes, that’s right U-Feast is taking you right to the farm for a #FeastOn certified escape of epic proportions!
We’ve partnered with South Pond’s Chef Kevin McKenna and the tremendous team at Thornbury Craft Cider for this locally focused feast. Everything (and we mean everything) will be made from scratch, on site and prepared specially for this unique experience.
We recently had the opportunity to drop in on Danielle French, owner of South Pond Farms. While the property is usually only accessible during weddings, events and workshops; on Wednesdays in the summer, Danielle and her team open up for farm-gate sales and casual lunches.
We were there to try their new signature butter tart, part of the Canada 150 Collection available on the Butter Tart Tour.
The tart is made from 100% Ontario-grown ingredients, including locally milled rye flour for the gluten free crust. The crisp shell is then filled with custard-y maple filling, candied bacon and Cross Wind Farms cheese curds. It’s a surprisingly good combination!
We have no doubt that what Chef Kevin McKenna and his team cook up for the U-Feast Brunch at South Pond Farms will be amazing. Here’s a peak at the menu:
Local Ancient Grain Breads & Pastries with house preserves & creams
Pond Harvest Salad with grilled kale, charcoal corn, farm corn shoots, ash crouton, Sunflower seed and an herb vinaigrette
Huevos Rancheros with smoked Mennonite pork, hens egg, tomatoes, red fife tortilla, Pristine Gourmet turtle beans, Cross Wind Farms yogurt and garden chili salsa verde
Carlyle’s Honey Cinnamon French Toast with farm lavender cream, chili glaze and Sumac Sugar Cookies
