This year is already off to a great start with some reel-y exciting news – TIFF co-founder Bill Marshall is bringing a film festival to Niagara this summer!
The Niagara Integrated Film Festival (NIFF) will hit the Niagara Region for four fabulous days of film, food and festivities from June 19-22. AAnd talk about cinematography – Niagara’s stunning wineries will provide the backdrop for many of the 100 scheduled screenings!
?It always struck me that, if youre going to have a different kind of festivalyou had to get something that would be a tourist attraction. AThe main things Niagara region has is the wineries, the cuisine and the culture.?A
We couldn’t agree more! AA handful of wineries are already on board, including Ravine Vineyard, The Good Earth Winery and Trius Winery, as is the Greater Niagara Chamber of Commerce, the Niagara-on-the-Lake Chamber of Commerce and theACity of St. Catharines, who recently pledged $25,000 in support of the festival. ALook for more confirmed wineries to be announced on NIFF’s Facebook and Twitter pages.
Marshall and his NIFF-ty team members have also started an Indiegogo campaign to raise additional funds. AContributors to the campaign can secure movie passes, NIFF t-shirts, tickets for the Filmalicious “dinner and a movie” restaurant and winery promotion and even a beer with Mr. Marshall himself.
From TIFF’s popular Food on Film Series to Gathering Niagara’s Lunch Market (in partnership with Shaw FestivalAand TIFF), it’s clear that the intersection between culture and cuisine is stronger than ever. AOf course, we’re looking forward to some truly blockbuster movie munchies as well…
