The Sweet Life! Stepping into Le Dolci’s bakeshop is like walking into a French patisserie; you are instantly transported without ever having to leave Toronto. Every inch of the store is carefully decorated with eclectic Parisian décor complete with elegantly adorned cakes – some which defy gravity! Le Dolci Le Dolci Le Dolci Located in Dundas West Village, overlooking Trinity Bellwoods Park, you can come in for a cup of tea and watch the city bustle from Le Dolci’s cozy comforts. Tea that is, of course, accompanied by one (probably more than one) of their spectacular confections: macarons, cookies, butter tarts, cupcakes and custom cakes. Are you getting hungry yet? Priding themselves on bringing food education to the curious Torontonian foodie, owner Lisa Sanguedolce offer a wide variety of classes – occasionally accompanied by special guest chefs – that are sure to tickle everyone’s fancy. But Le Dolci is much more than desserts. As of this summer, Sanguedolce and her team have introduced their Trinity Bellwoods Market Class led by Chef Christophe Measson of Lyon, France. Accompanied by Chef Christophe, the class begins by sourcing fresh, local produce in the charming Trinity Bellwood’s Farmer Market – the market is available every Tuesday from 3-7pm until October 28th.

The Trinity Bellwoods Farmers’ Market

Each class’ menu is unique and dependant on what’s available in market that week. We had a lovely time strolling through the local farmer and artisan’s kiosks. We collected goodies from the many local purveyors: our trout was sourced from Lovell Springs Trout Farm, our plentiful vegetables and herbs from Chick-a-biddy Acres, our delicious sourdough bread was from St. John’s Bakery and creamy goat cheese covered in ash from the dynamic Monforte Dairy. Once we soaked up (read: enjoyed delicious food samples from the market) and carefully selected our menu’s ingredients from the local purveyors, we returned to the food studio with bags brimming with ingredients and students excited to cook! Under Chef Christophe’s tutelage, were split into appetizer, entree and dessert teams to prepare a restaurant calibre three-course meal. The cherry on top of a fun-filled evening was sitting down and enjoying the fruits of our labour with the entire class in a family-style dinner party with accompanying local wine. By the end of the class, I felt as if I was truly among friends. Le Dolci 2Sanguedolce and the entire Le Dolci team are both warm and friendly and welcome you into their store as family. Each class is a wonderful experience and is the perfect way to spend a fun and relaxing afternoon in the city.

Our dinner! Appetizers were Baked Goat Cheese w/ Fricassee Mushrooms, Side Salad, Pickled Radish and Cucumber and Fresh Bread from St. John’s Bakery. The Main courses were Baked Trout Fillets with Mixed Herbs, Glazed Beets and Swiss Chard and Oven Roasted Courgettes, Potatoes & Onions. For Dessert, a lovely Cherry Clafoutis.
