Wild blueberry season is here again and to say that we’re excited would be an understatement. The season seems to disappear in the blink of an eye so this year we suggest you make the most of it by attending the Evergreen Brickworks Wild Blueberry Festival on Sunday, August 23rd!
Between the pie bake-off, live music and plethora of blueberry inspired snacks it’s hard to pin down our favourite part of the festival, but here is a rundown of some things we are especially excited about this year:
Feast ON chef Ricky Casipe of Hawthorne Food & Drink will be running a food demo on the main stage from 12:15 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. If you have a sweet tooth make sure that you catch his deep friend blueberry pancake batter with maple wild blueberries. For those of you who lean more towards savoury you won’t want to miss Casipe make his duck heart yakitori braised with blueberry teriyaki.
Cafe Belong will also be changing up their menu to reflect the blueberry theme of the weekend. A great place to sit down and watch the festival while you re-charge on some blueberry inspired dishes.
And the blueberry party doesn’t have to stop thanks to Feast ON’s newest preferred purveyor Bespoke Butcher Shop, who will be on hand selling their wild boar and blueberry sausage to take home!
If you’re hungry for knowledge, Feast of Fields, Ontario’s first certified organic vineyard and orchard will be on hand. Catch them on the main stage from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. where they will be talking about the relationship blueberries have to foraging, production and management.
Is beer what you’re looking for? If it is you’re covered! Cask Days has collaborated with Brasserie Dunham, Great Lakes Brewery and Bar Volo to create a special grisette saison wild blueberry cask conditioned beer.
The Evergreen Brickworks Wild Blueberry Festival is basically blueberry prom, so come on out and see if you can get crowned this weekend!
