After the warm success of the inaugural event last holiday season, the annualAKristlemas MarketAis back for another display of the years best fresh, prepared and preserved food, crafts, wines, free seminars, and if that wasnt enough, seated yoga to keep the kids entertained and live music for all!
If the thought of crowds and the confines of the shopping malls has you feeling less-than-festive, what better way to get into the spirit than to spend your Sunday at one of Niagara on the Lake’s fine vineyards.
There will be seminars and workshops every hour, starting with NOTL-based photographer Kim Manley-Ort, who will offer up suggestions on capturing the magic of the holidays. Other speakers will give tips on making the most of using preserves in your holiday cooking, helping you find new uses for herbs and spices, learning some new entertaining ideas, exploring the possibilities of giving tea and sampling some of the seasons best wines!
The unique indoor/outdoor nature of this event allows the opportunity for some of the best food trucks and vendors in the area to share their specialties while you take everything in. Ranging from sausages to sandwiches to Southern-style BBQ, youll find the following belly-filling options: Bench On the Go, The Dirty South, Jonny Blonde, Luchador Mexican Fusion, Niagara Food Specialties, Nudulz Food Truck, The Salted Pig and Warners Farm. AndAThe Gelato Spot will be offering-up espresso, hot cocoa and hot apple cider to keep you warm.
The indoor food, prepared food, vendors and artisans are too many to mention, but with everything ranging from olive oils and preserves to baked goods and local brews, from seasonal decorations and dAcor to fashion and upcycled accessories, youll be thinking of new people to add to your shopping list so you have someone to share these great gifts with!
To get the most out of the market, there will be a personal shopper on hand to help you navigate and narrow down the choices. And to round out the afternoon, you can take in the musical talent of Ashley St. Pierre and Sound Sound.
In keeping with the spirit of the season, shoppers are invited to bring donations of non-perishable food and/or clothing for NOTLs food and charity barn the Newark Neighbors. For more information, or to reach out to the Newark Neighbors any other time or in any other way, they can be reached at 905-468-3519.
The Kristlemas Market is one of 4 annual, seasonal, joint events organized by Gathering Niagara and sponsored by Stratus Vineyards as a way to celebrate the special connection between local farmers, foodies, chefs and the community. Also look for the Spung! Market in the spring, the Ripe and Juicy Market in the height of high season, and the Plenty Market to celebrate the autumn harvest.
