Last summer, Small Talk Vineyards launched Shiny Apple Cider, but this month they’re taking it a step further for the Niagara Icewine Festival! They’re created a blend of Shiny Apple and Small Talk Icewine for a taste sensation that can’t be found anywhere else. “We broke new ground last summer when we introduced Shiny Apple Cider,” says Angela Kasimos, winemaker at Small Talk Vineyards. “We love to experiment with different blends, and have found a winner with our Icewine infused Cider. It’s still sweet enough to pair with a dessert, but refreshing enough to enjoy on its own. It’s a great match.” Shiny Apple Cider is a unique drink unto itself, a combination of 100 per cent natural apple juice from Ontario and Small Talk Vineyards’ best-selling estate-grown Riesling. The young spritzy craft apple cider tempers the sweetness of the well-aged 2009 Vidal. It features a full apple complexity with notes of pear and caramelized toffee apple — in other words, it’s caramel apple pie in a glass. Something we can definitely get behind! Specially crafted for the Niagara Icewine Festival, taking place over three weekends in January, the festival is a celebration of all things icewine. The festival takes place January 9, 10, 11, 16, 17, 18, 23, 24 and 25 at various locations throughout the Niagara wine region.
