Feast Your Way Through Countylicious

Countylicious is Prince Edward County’s twice-annual celebration of farm-to-table food.

In November, the spotlight shines firmly on County chefs and restaurants with the main event, Countylicious prix fixe dining, running from October 30 – November 22. Frugal foodies can feast their way through The County’s restaurants, with lunch menus priced at $20, and dinner for just $40. Most Countylicious restaurants are offering their menus for dine-in or take-out, with creative approaches to take-away dishes. The line-up of restaurants for Countylicious Prix Fixe dining will be announced Tuesday, October 13.

Your Countylicious weekend starts with a place to lay your head, and what better place than a historic inn with a ‘licious restaurant on site? The Waring House Inn and Restaurant has been offering a quintessential County experience for 25 years with guest rooms at all price points and both pub fare and fine dining on site. The inn has been a local leader in safety post-covid, having earned the Safe Travels Stamp. We recommend a Suite or the Garden Cottage if you want some extra space to enjoy takeout in your room.

If you truly want to feast your way through Countylicious, plan for a weekend with two lunches and two dinners!

On your first night, make a reservation at East & Main in Wellington to enjoy luxury comfort food in the heart of this picturesque village near Lake Ontario. East & Main has been a Countylicious mainstay for more than a decade, and Chef Kimberly Humby knows how to put together an impressive prix fixe menu filled with local flavours and County wine pairings.

On day two, stop in Bloomfield for an inspired take-out lunch from Bloomfield Public House Market and check-in on your Great Taste of Ontario Road Trip Passport. Chef/owner Elliot Reynolds and owner Laura Borutski pivoted their farm-to-table restaurant into a gourmet grocer and market this summer. Their Countylicious lunch menu is specifically designed for takeout and can be paired with local craft beverages available to-go from their market fridge.

Head to Picton for dinner number two, and check in at Hartley’s Tavern for a taste of County terroir in an elegant and refined setting. Hartley’s Tavern is the culmination of Jim, Janine and Jared Hartley’s passion for food, beer and wine. Their Countylicious menu will feature a three course prix fixe of creative plates that make the most of County ingredients.

Cap your Countylicious weekend with One. Last. Epic. Meal.

Day three’s lunch is served up at The Vic Drive-In, the perfect stop as you head out of town. Dine in the diner or dine in your car for retro vibes. They serve burgers, hotdogs, rice bowls, salads and an all-day breakfast. Their Countylicious menu features a hearty main, a classic milkshake, and a choice of local craft beverage.
