Walk among the Winning Tastes of Carleton Place

Life really IS better on the river. Whet your Olympic appetite in the paddling culture of Canada’s Mississippi River, a waterway that has made Carleton Place a natural draw for decades, and home to the oldest continuously operating Canoe Club in Canada.

The Good Food Company for Breakfast

This popular breakfast spot serves traditional favourites with Lanark County maple syrup and comes complete with fair-trade coffee and espresso drinks! Specializing in vegetarian options and catering to those with dietary restrictions, you may wish to try the samosas, rice paper rolls, deli salads, hummus, salsas, and from-scratch desserts. After breakfast, enjoy a pottery painting activity at the Blossom Shop.

Carleton Place and District Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Centre

As you stroll through historic downtown, be sure to visit the Moore House, a little log cabin right across the street from the majestic architecture of town hall, to learn all about the local sites. This is the place to pick up a souvenir of your visit. Choose from a variety of foodie items made by The Beckwitch Store, Thompsontown or Temple’s Maple Sugar Bushes.

The Granary

If you’re into organic, ethically sourced natural foods, this is your place. Shop for some fine chocolate by Ludwig including bars made with Lanark County maple syrup. Celebrate good chocolate, its velvety smooth texture and oh so good taste.

Boulton House for Lunch

Overlooking the beautiful Mississippi River, the incredible ambiance of this establishment makes the already exceptional food taste twice as good. Built by Hugh Boulton in the early 1800s, this stone clad property was the site of a milling operation that was fully powered by the rushing river for generations. Walk to the public park behind Town Hall to enjoy the view or spend the afternoon on a guided walking tour hosted by the Carleton Place & Beckwith Heritage Museum.
