Here’s how to spend two perfect days in the Bay of Quinte.
START THE DAY AT LOLA’S CAFE
This farm-to-table café in downtown Brighton offers great vegan, gluten-free, vegetarian and meat options. Grab a mug of fair-trade, organic coffee along with a breakfast sandwich—and in-house pastries to nibble on later!
BIKE OR HIKE THROUGH THE GOODRICH-LOOMIS CONSERVATION AREA
Located in the rolling Northumberland hills just north of town. Goodrich-Loomis Conservation Area offers some of the most scenic natural beauty found in the Quinte area. Bike or hike your way through a variety of habitats, starting with shorter loops or the entire 12 km of trails.
RE-FUEL AT BURGER REVOLUTION
Every revolution begins with a spark, an idea that challenges the status quo. Burger Revolution is a flavour revolution, and their fight is against the bland burger, the frozen burger, the ordinary burger. Stop in to their Quinte West location for the Burger of the Month or something from the Secret Menu.
CAST A LINE AT CRAZY CREEK FISHING
Owned and hosted by Larry Cyr and by appointment only, Crazy Creek Fishing Preserve and Bait Minnows is located north of Frankford. It has been in operation for 25 years and offers public fishing as well as gathering space for BBQs, birthday parties and company get-togethers.
GRAB A PIE FROM DIMITRI’S PIZZERIA
Pasta, pizza, panzerotti—take your pick, and enjoy it on the patio or on a picnic!
CAMP AT FRANKFORD TOURIST PARK
Set up camp on this stretch of parkland along the Trent River in downtown Frankford. The park has a sandy beach area and playground, covered picnic pavilion and seasonal overnight camping facilities, making it a family-friendly spot to sleep under the stars.
MEET THE EGGSPERTS AT EGGSQUIS
Choose from seven types of eggs benny, waffles with piles of fresh fruit, french toast, bagels and yogurt parfaits. You’ll see why these bosses of brunch were voted Best Breakfast in the Best of the Bay!
H.R. FRINK CONSERVATION AREA
Here you’ll find 12 km of hiking trails on the north and south sides of Thrasher Road. The north side features forested trails along the Moira River, around a silver maple swamp and through a mature hardwood forest. The south side of the area features the Wetland Ecology Boardwalk, popular among photographers and nature-lovers alike!
TAKE FLIGHT AT SIGNAL BREWING CO.
Located on the site of the historic Corby Distillery, Signal is known for its craft beer, live music and wicked waterfront patio. Sample a variety of brews like their supercharged Volt or let your taste buds ride the Wave Pale Ale.
SPRINGSIDE TO CONSERVATION PARK
Yes, you CAN go chasing waterfalls along the Napanee River. Follow the leisurely (and accessible) waterfront trail from Springside Park to Conservation Park. If you have a hankering for history, check out the plaques along the way.
DINE AT THE WATERFRONT RIVER PUB
You know what pairs well with nature? Local beer and a double-stack burger! Grab a seat on the riverside patio or book your spot aboard the Normal Paul for a river cruise with sips and snacks.
