Good Things Growing at Adamo Estate Winery

While many of us are familiar with Hockley Valley Resort, it may surprise you to learn that  construction is now underway to house the newest addition to the Hockley family : Adamo Estate Winery.

The story of the winery actually began years ago, as a partnership between Mario Adamo of Hockley Valley Resort, and Jonas Newman of Hinterland Winery. With guidance from Jonas, what began as a few rows of hand-planted vines has evolved into something much larger. March 2015 saw the first onsite bottling of the 2014 vintages. This year, the vineyard is expected to produce more than 7000 cases of wine, up from 5200 in 2014.

?When i looked out over our property it always reminded me of rolling hills in Italy and I dreamed of vines being grown. Now we not only have the vines but beautiful wines being created!? says Adamo.

The 20,000 sq.ft. winery is currently under construction and will be ready for 2015 Harvest, and open to the public in the spring of 2016. A Tasting Bar, and retail sales building will overlook the vines and the Hockley Valley.

These vidal grapes have been growing at Hockley Valley for a number of years now!

Even though construction is underway for the winery and tasting bar, Adamo is already producing a full line of amazing wines including Vidal Blanc, Rose, Riesling, Chardonnay Musque, Gamay Noir, Merlot, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Adamo uses grapes grown on the property, as well as hand picked varietals from the Niagara Region. Though it can currently only be purchased online, we’re looking forward to being able to visit the Adamo Estate bottleshop next spring.
