Giddy Up Cowboys: Rodeo’s Coming To Town

Saddle up! The first annual Evergreen Urban Rodeo & BBQ fundraiser is coming to the Evergreen Brick Works Saturday, September 27th.

This is your opportunity to see the province’s best chefs in cowboy hats… and dine on local, sustainable food and drink.  Like Evergreen’s wildly popular Picnic, the rodeo promises food stations featuring finger-licking country classics.

Chefs are being partnered with a variety of local farms including Vickie’s Veggies, Bizjak Farms, Monforte Dairy, and Grandview Farms.

So who’s lassoing up these wildly delicious edibles for you? The roster of chefs is over 40 strong and includes Feast ON Chefs like Brad Long of Cafe Belong, Jamie Kennedy of Gilead Cafe, Sean Collins & Tim Larsen of Mercer Hall, Jason Bangerter of Langdon Hall, Andre Sanche of Ciboulette et Cie, Caesar Guinto of creemore Kitchen, Miriam Streiman of Mad Maple Country Inn, Shaun Edmonstone of Bruce Wine Bar,  Bettina Schormann of Earth To Table: Bread Bar, and Owen Steinberg of The Harvest Kitchen.

Food for the more discerning palettes, from carnivore to omnivore to vegetarian will be on offer so there’s something for everyone.  Each dish will be paired with all-you-drink craft beer, wine and spirits.

To provide entertainment for the food and drink extravaganza, local bands CATL, Dani Nash, Beams and Zakary Miller will take to the stage to encourage spontaneous line dancing and some foot-loose rock-a-billy moves all night long.

In true rodeo fashion visitors will be invited to take a ride on the mechanical bull (!), get lasso lessons, try their luck at some classic carnival games. There will also be a chance to bring a piece of Rodeo home with a silent and live auction planned.

?Toronto is not as city slicker as you might think it is,? confides Arlene Stein, Event Producer at Evergreen. ?We are surrounded by some of the best farm land in the world, so we thought it would be fun to bring a bit of rodeo swagger to our city. This Rodeo BBQ is a chance to truly celebrate the harvest, hand crafted into delicious meals by some of the countrys greatest chefs.?

The whole thing sound to good to be true? Get your tickets now — or win them by sharing your farmers market photos using hashtags #FeastON and #rodeoBBQ.
