It is officially the time of year for Christmas craft and artisan markets! Being a craft and DIY junkie, this is my favourite time for buying gifts and getting creative ideas from local crafters. In addition to the abundance of handmade gems, there is always a plethora of local food vendors offering canned goods, spreads, honey and maple syrup. Here are some of the top Christmas craft markets in the province to check out before the holidays!
November 18th - December 22nd Toronto
This exciting market in the Distillery is packed with Ontario’s best and most unique craftspeople and artisans, together with an international roster of world class vendors. Pefferlaw Creek Farms comes from Uxbridge with their maple syrup and maple products and La Vela Bella will be there with handmade soy wax candles made in upcycled tea cups and mason jars. Don’t leave without stopping by the life size gingerbread house!
November 19th and December 10th Meaford
This market is taking place on November 19th and December 10th so if you are heading Meaford way, plan your visit around one of these markets. Along with farmers showcasing seasonal produce and many local crafters displaying hand made work, you will find wine from Georgian Hills Vineyards, Miners Maple Products and delicious dry soup medleys from Soup Girl, featuring Ontario ingredients.
November 19th and 26th Guelph
With an amazing spread of vendors, this market takes place on two days at two different locations! Don’t miss Cassie Maple Products featuring maple brittle, fudge, lip balm and lotion. Be sure to make your way to Guelph Wood Art boasting hand crafted Canadian made products — great host gifts to be found!
November 19th Toronto
This amazing craft market donates all admission proceeds to Swansea families in need, which allows you to feel good while shopping for gifts! Some favourites from this market are upcycled wool mittens and baby bibs from Blissful Sew and Pioneer Brand wildflower Honey.
November 20th Toronto
Head down to The Great Hall for this 3rd annual Christmas market. Get your tickets in advance to save a few bucks and bring your kids (under 10) for free! Some fave brands are Gentlemen of the North toques, ?helping revive the idea of being a gentleman in Canada� and Let It Wag, swag for dogs and furry friends, cause they deserve a Christmas gift too.
November 20th Cambridge
This bazaar loves promoting local artisans and we are on board! Waterloo based, Funky Legginz has some cozy bottoms perfect for Christmas morning. If you have babies in your life, check out the adorable bandanas and teething necklaces from The Night Owls.
November 27th Toronto
The folks at The Leslieville Flea always have something great on the go. For this year�s holiday market, they are featuring some delightful vendors. Our go to gift from here are fair trade organic cruelty-free cosmetics from Sudsatorium, with their oh so Canadian conditioner, Brewski, featuring stout beer. We also love Farm Fresh Vintage furniture with awesome one of a kind pieces.
December 2nd – 4th, 9th – 11th, 16th – 18th Ottawa
With over 100 vendors of locally grown food, and locally made arts and crafts, this Christmas market serves as a great one-stop shop for host gifts, stocking stuffers, and ingredients for holiday dinners. Arc Acres offers grass fed beef and delicious preserves while Barkley’s apple orchard boasts dried apples, fruit jams and apple cider. For great stocking stuffers check out Buzz Honey products with an array of products from lotions and lip balms to granola.
December 10th Brampton
This one-day event will feature a large selection of handmade and unique items making it a great spot for holiday shopping! The Silk Painters of Ontario always have beautiful work on display and if you are preparing for winter you should check out the braided scarves from Two Friends and a Hook.
December 10th – 23rd Toronto
In addition to all the above markets, the Holiday Makers Market in partnership with Etsy is taking place at the Evergreen Brickworks for two weeks in December. Grab your delicious sweet treats from Feast On? certified Molly B�s Gluten Free Kitchen and wind your way through the incredible collective of artisans. We especially love the work of Dream Willow Co and their personalized accessories including Christmas ornaments and necklaces.
