Get The Goods: Ontario Filled Gift Baskets

Gift baskets don’t have to be a drag to receive, and today’s selection is nothing like what it used to be! After all, sometimes, nothing says thank you quite like a gift basket.

Whether you’re sending them to corporate clients or just can’t settle on that one certain thing — a gift basket is a great to give something delicious and local come Christmas. Just make sure to skip the stale crackers and styrofoam peanuts!

Here are five baskets we wish our friends would send our way this season:

The Mancave Survival Kit: Meat & Butter
VG Meats   vgmeats.ca     $110+HST

Whether you have a mancave or not, you are sure to feel like the King (or Queen!) of the castle with this meaty basket. Two Ontario grown and raised tomahawk steaks and some beautiful compound butter make this the perfect gift for the Fred (or Wilma!) Flinestone in your life.

Also Awesome: The Grandma VG’s Ham Basket complete with locally grown apples and 2 cans of ginger ale!

The Gin & Tonic Gift Box
Dillon’s Small Batch Distillers   store.dillons.ca   $85.50+HST

Small batch tonic, Niagara pear bitters and a W&P Designs Jigger are the perfect pairings to a bottle of Dillon’s award winning Unfiltered Gin 22. It all comes tucked neatly into a handmade wooden box. Stylish and delicious!

Also Awesome: Every year, a lucky few visitors to the sipping room have the chance to pick up Dillon’s Caesar Kits complete with homemade rimmer and pickles!

The Toronto Life Box
Foodie Pages    foodiepages.ca   $55.00+HST

Curated for Foodie Pages by the folks at Toronto Life, this gift box is brimming with some of our favorite Ontario artisans!  There’s the Spadina Blend from Pluck Tea’s inspired by the city’s most colourful neighbourhood in there — and a jar of Chili Okazu — a mish mash of miso and sesame that has us hooked! Bonus: the box comes with the Eating & Drinking issue of Toronto Life!

Also Awesome: The tastes of Ottawa box has a lusting after another visit to the nation’s capital. Includes maple syrup, honey and more.

The Gunn’s Hill Bushel Basket
Gunn’s Hill Artisan Cheese   gunnshillcheese.ca   $50.00+HST

Two hundred grams of each of Shep’s award winning cheeses (including our current favorite: the Oxford Harvest with cumin!) paired with a box of Barrie Brothers crackers. Take things up a notch and go ‘Large’ with pecans from Jewel’s Under The Quilt, Oxford Honey, and Crossroad Farms sheep milk gouda!

Also Awesome: Not everyone can eat that much cheese. For the solo cheddar head in your life, they also do small boxes.

Savvy Selections
Savvy Company   savvycompany.ca   $65 – $90 +HST

Every month, Savvy company compiles a beautiful selection of hard to find Ontario wines for their subscribers. These wines are not available at the LBCO or your local wine store  – every shipment is delivered to your home or office directly from the featured winemaker. We say: why give one basket when you can give 4, 6 or even 12! This month, the featured winery is Redstone Winery in Niagara.

Also Awesome: For the beer lover in your life, there’s also Savvy Hip Hops — a monthly subscription providing unique, hard to find brews from across Ontario!
