The Northern Tourism Summit
is kicking off this month as a three-day event, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to head to ‘The Sault’ to learn, eat and celebrate Northern Ontario’s leaders in the industry.
We’ve been asked to curate a delicious taste of Northern Ontario. Here’s a sneak peak at what’s on offer at the Northern Tourism Summit!
One of our long-time Feast On Certified restaurants, you’ll be pleased to try their dishes, offering an array of fresh flavours using local ingredients. Not only is Radical Gardens gracing the summit with their sweet and savoury creations, they will also be featuring one of our Preferred Purveyors – Thornloe grass fed cheese
Also on deck are The Breakfast Pig (thebreakfastpig.com
) and Embers Grill + Smokehouse (Embers Grill + Smokehouse
), both from Sault Ste. Marie.
New to the Feast On program, these two spots will be serving up tasty Ontario ingredients to liven-up your plates. Expect tantalizing breakfast foods and savoury dishes. We couldn’t be happier to have these two restaurants showcasing The Sault’s taste of place.
Dillon’s Small Batch Distillers
Small batch spirits made from natural base ingredients, Dillon’s spirits are infused and finished with fine botanicals and wood. We’re jazzed about the quality of product that this Feast On Preferred Purveyor provides for their consumers. Did you know that they recently released a Pear Brandy using Ontario pears?
Sapsucker Maple Tree Filtered Water
Light, refreshing and deeply Canadian, Sapsucker’s Maple Water is another Feast On Preferred Purveyor to expect at this year’s Northern Tourism Summit. We love the subtle flavour of this product – it offers a balanced taste that whets the palate, embedding a sense of terroir.
Colio Estate Winery is located on 200 acres, on the Lake Erie North Shore, where three Italian bricklayers named Alfredo, Enzo and Tiberio decided to fulfill their life dream of building a world-class winery. Since opening its doors in 1980, Colio has won over 400 awards in competitions around the globe. They will be pouring their wines for us all evening.
Top Shelf Distillers
Top Shelf Distillers is reviving the 200-year-old tradition of distilling in Perth, Ontario. They craft spirits –gin, whiskey, vodka and bitters, to name a few products – using local, Ontario ingredients. As a Feast On Preferred Purveyor we’re looking forward to exploring what they’ll have featured at this year’s summit.
Northern Superior Brewing
Last, but far from least, another of Sault Ste. Marie’s own will be proudly serving up local, premium lagers and ales for us all at the the Northern Tourism Summit. Microbrews are ubiquitous and celebrated here in Ontario; we’re looking forward to trying The Sault’s very own liquid gold, branded with the howling wolf.
Can’t wait to get to The Sault – we’re so ready for you!
If you’re going to be at the Summit, be sure to keep an eye out for Agatha and Christine. They’ll be there helping to spread the good food word on behalf of all our member regions and certified restaurants.
