Everything we want to eat and drink at Cask Days 2018

Cask Days might just be our favorite beer festival of the year. It brings together all the creatives, the odd-balls, the kinda-sorta-out-there beer types who want to push their palates. These are our people. 41641417_1807154049337726_3056529466361643008_n
This year is going to be bigger than ever, with extra casks on offer – and new ones being tapped during each session. They’ve also got Michael Webster of Bar Raval on board to do curated “Casktails”, special cocktails served directly from the cask in partnership withour friends at Dillon’s Distillery. We reached out to some of our brewer friends to get a sneak peek at what they’ll be pouring at this years’ festival. Here’s what they said!
  • Stephen Rich, Brewmaster at Cowbell Brewing Co. in Blythe let slip that they’ll be bringing two Bourbon Barrel Aged Beers. According the Rich, they’ll be “two different styles, but both big, potent, and well matured – one Midnight Black and one Mahogany Brown.”
  • Meanwhile, our friends at Beau’s All Natural are coming down from Vankleek Hill with a dry-hopped IPA with Eldorado and an organic cherry stout
  • On the cider front, Thomas Wilson, head cider maker at Spirit Estate Cidery in Headwaters is bringing six cask ciders, including ‘Kings Black Heart’, a Kingston Black with black plums and ‘Golden Nutcracker’, a chestnut crabapple with wild honey. We’ll take one of each please!
The food is going to be incredible thanks to beer-friendly offerings by: Birreria Volo, El Rey Mezcal Bar, Harry’s Charbroiled, Montgomery’s Restaurant, PG Clucks, and Tennessee Tavern. 41375507_1801580573228407_8413957640010334208_n We’re also pretty excited about the Ontario cider line-up. The folks at CaskDays have done their homework and are bringing some powerhouse local cider makers to the festival to pour their creative concoctions. Expect to see some curiosities from Ernest Cider Co, Heartwood Farm & Cidery, Ironwood Cider, Pommies Cider Co, Revel Cider Co, Spirit Tree Estate Cider, Steeltown Cider Co, Sulkers Cider, West Avenue Cider, and of course, Thornbury Village.
The 14th Annual Cask Days Beer Festival returns to the Evergreen Brick Works on October 19th-21st. Get tickets here! caskdays
