What’s Cooking Bracebridge is back and better than ever!

It’s that time of year again when we are all savouring the last remnants of summer and feeling the crisp air of fall.

On September 27th – 29th, 2019 Bracebridge is hosting its sixth annual What’s Cooking Bracebridge in celebration of food and all its glory. This year, the focus is on bringing the community together to celebrate local produce and talent, and the unique flavours our restaurants have to offer. There is an interactive festival, hikes through the town and trails, and a superb Sunday brunch.

The Food & Drink Festival on the Silver Bridge features vendors, a marketplace, musicians, and interesting activities for kids and adults. We will have demos from many talented chefs including: Emily Richards, Signe Langford, David Friesen, and The Firehouse Chef, Patrick Mathieu.

You can join the BBQ rub station to develop your own concoction, challenge a friend on the giant board games, and take in the lively sounds of the Karla Crawford band.

On Sunday September 29th, Laura Gilmour of Wild Muskoka Botanicals is leading her guests on woodland trails to share her expertise on the healing and nutritional properties of wild plants. She will explain how to forage, and how to use what you find. Laura has years of experience in transforming the natural bounty of the forest into edible foods, spices, vinegars, and beverages. Sign up, don your hiking shoes, and bring a water bottle and notebook!

Sunday brunch has become wonderful tradition, and What’s Cooking Bracebridge, in partnership with the Pasta Shoppe, will host The Firehouse Chef, Patrick Mathieu where guests will be invited to indulge in a delectable brunch while visiting with Patrick.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Muskoka is playing host to a culinary walking tour where urban ‘explorers’ will meet the producers and chefs who collaborate to create five signature dishes for the occasion, pairing them with selected drinks. On Sunday afternoon attendees will chat, mingle, and sip-and-sample their way through the downtown restaurants.

This is sure to be a weekend like no other!
