According to the event organizers, a decade ago critics said that a growing consumer interest in local food would never be more than a small niche in the agricultural economy. Yet today we see more and more business and organizations recognizing the power of local food in their communities.
It’s fitting, then, that this year’s theme for the Eastern Ontario Local Food Conference in Kingston on 24-25 November is “Local Food: Niche to Mainstream”.
We’ll be there representing our Feast ON program and looking at how businesses and organizations are managing growth to create a sustainable local food system. Why not join us? Thanks to some amazing Feast ON restaurants located only a stones throw away from the conference you’ll be able to enjoy “Certified Tastes of Ontario” while you’re in town!
On Monday 24th, after a food tour of Kingston and area, network at the local food reception and then head over to either Le Chien Noir or Chez Piggy for an amazing local food prix fix dinner. On Tuesday 25th, enjoy a full day of presentations, learn from best practices, and network with 200 other people facing similar opportunities and challenges, and then cap off your day with an amazing local food prix fix dinner at either Dianne’s or Olivea.
Looking forward to learning about and Feasting ON local with you in Eastern Ontario!
