Dine out, do good: The results of Restaurants for Change

It may be surprising to learn that 4 million plus Canadians are living with food insecurity each year. That’s 1 in 8 Canadians! With valiant and effective efforts, Canadian Food Centres Canada facilitates incredible food programing, in 120 communities nationwide, to remediate this issue. It’s no wonder that during their major annual fundraiser, Restaurants for Change, restaurants across Canada proudly volunteer to donate their proceeds for one night from diners visiting in support of CFCC. On October 17 of this year, 42 plus restaurants participated in Ontario, with many here in Toronto, and over 75 restaurants participated nationwide. Our team here at the Culinary Tourism Alliance went out in support of Canadian Food Centres Canada; as one of our Feast On Program Supporters we were more than happy to support the great work CFCC is doing to build a healthier and more equitable food system here in Canada. In total, $150,000 worth of proceeds were raised from the night. Restaurants for Change encourages restaurants to participate that focus on quality, local ingredients, which is a reflection of the 4,000 plus program sessions that CFCC provides to vulnerable communities. Here are the Feast On Certified restaurants that participated in 2018’s Restaurants for Change. Bruce Hotel
